The city of Peterhof is located 29 km west of St. Petersburg on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. The city is a major tourist, scientific and educational center.
In summer (from the end of April) until mid-October, the fastest way to get to Peterhof from the center of St. Petersburg is by meteors (missiles) - ships on air wings.
If you depart from St. Petersburg on the first meteor, you can catch the ceremonial launch of the Great Cascade of Fountains, which begins daily at 11-00. Meteors arrive directly at the pier in the Lower Park of Peterhof (where the famous fountains are located) and when going ashore you will need to purchase an entrance ticket to the park. The cost of an entrance ticket for citizens of Russia and the CIS in 2023 is 600 rubles. Tickets for visiting the Peterhof Palace can be purchased separately at the museum box office. Please note that in the summer, you can lose several hours in queues at the palace ticket office, and e-tickets to the palace sell out very quickly during the high season.
After the start of transport reform, Peterhof (and Strelna) from St. Petersburg can only be reached by direct bus from the Avtovo metro station and the Leninsky Prospekt metro station.
The quietest way to get to Peterhof is by train from the Baltiysky station (center of St. Petersburg - Baltiyskaya metro station) to the New Peterhof station.
The easiest way to get to Peterhof from St. Petersburg is along the Peterhofskoe Highway, or along the Ring Road (KAD) with an exit to Ropshinskoe Highway and then along the St. Petersburgskoe Highway to Peterhof.
